Terms of Service
These terms are an agreement between you and [OPERATOR NAME], who runs BidChess as a small hobby project. By creating an account you accept these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use BidChess.
1. Who can play
- You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you need your parent's or guardian's permission.
- One person, one account. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens on your account.
- During the beta, signing up may need a beta code.
2. Points are not money
BidChess uses points for bidding during a game. Points have no monetary value: they cannot be bought, sold, won, transferred, cashed out or exchanged for money, prizes or anything else, and every game starts again from the same number of points. BidChess is not gambling and must not be used for betting of any kind.
3. Fair play
Play your own games, fairly. In particular, don't:
- use chess engines, bots or another person to make your moves or bids;
- use several accounts, or arrange results with another player;
- stall or abandon games on purpose to annoy your opponent;
- exploit bugs, try to see your opponent's sealed bid, or attack, overload or reverse-engineer the service;
- choose a username that is offensive, hateful, sexual, impersonates someone, or pretends to be staff.
If you find a bug, please tell us instead of using it.
4. Reports, moderation and bans
You can report a player from the game-over screen. We review reports by hand. If we believe you broke these terms, we may rename your username, end your games, or suspend or ban your account, with or without notice. A ban signs you out on all devices. If you think a decision was wrong, write to privacy@bidchess.example.
5. Your account and deleting it
You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete account) or as described on the account deletion page. Finished games stay in your opponents' history under an anonymous name.
6. The service
BidChess is a free hobby project. We may change, pause or stop it, reset ratings or statistics, or change these rules (game rules included) at any time. Games depend on network connections and timers; a lost connection can lose a move or a game.
7. No warranty
BidChess is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, availability, or that it is error-free.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for lost games, points, data or time, arising from your use of BidChess. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Changes to these terms
When these terms change in a meaningful way, the version above changes and the app asks you to accept the new version before you continue.
10. Law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of India, without affecting any mandatory consumer rights you have where you live. Contact: [OPERATOR NAME], privacy@bidchess.example.
